2016 Benefits at Work conference

Together, we're building a better bridge

The S.C. Public Employee Benefit Authority will host this year's Benefits at Work conference at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center August 29 - September 1.


The following groups are invited to attend on the days listed below.


  • August 29 - Higher education
  • August 30 - State agencies
  • August 31 - Local subdivisions
  • September 1 - Public schools


Conference format

We will offer three workshops - two insurance workshops and one retirement workshop. You may attend all three of the workshops. Also new this year will be an optional open forum at the end of each day that will provide an opportunity for you to ask questions and network with other employers.

Insurance I

Enrollment updates; ACA reporting; new MyBenefits functionality

This workshop will include open enrollment options and processing tips for 2017; an update on the Affordable Care Act; and the introduction and demonstration of new MyBenefits functionality, including expanded member enrollment opportunities and electronic uploading of enrollment documents.

Insurance II

State Health Plan update; new contracts; PEBA Health Hub

In this workshop, you’ll learn about State Health Plan changes for 2017. You will hear about new initiatives including Rally, a digital health and wellness platform for members. You will also learn more about the employer group report and the PEBA Health Hub, an ever-expanding collection of online resources that you can download and use to support health issues you’d like to spotlight for your employees.

Cash receipts automation; State Optional Retirement Program changes; S.C. Deferred Compensation Program update; retirement awareness

This workshop will include information on PEBA’s Be Aware and Prepare retirement awareness educational series and the resources available to you and your employees. You will receive an overview of recent changes to the State Optional Retirement Program, as well as an update on the South Carolina Deferred Compensation Program. You will also hear about PEBA’s new automated cash receipts process.
