PEBA Partners is an award program that honors employers that demonstrate a dedication to promoting a physically, emotionally and financially healthier workplace. PEBA strives to recognize employers who are setting the bar for workplace well-being programs across the state. Each year, the application is sent to participating employer groups in May.

Overall winner | Aiken Technical College

Aiken Technical College recognizes that its employees are the college’s greatest asset. The college’s Employee Wellness Program strives to create a supportive environment by providing a wide range of wellness initiatives. They focus on providing resources and activities that address many of the interconnected dimensions of wellness to assist faculty and staff in achieving their personal and professional goals.

Higher education winner | University of South Carolina

The University of South Carolina strives to create a healthy campus environment in which to live, learn, work and play. During the pandemic, it continued to promote health and wellness by implementing new programs, hosting virtual events, offering flex work schedules, and deploying complimentary testing and vaccination clinics. UofSC maintained and expanded its focus on the mental health of the campus community by offering additional program opportunities and weekly mental health surveys.

Optional employer winner | Charleston County Government

Charleston County Government maintained its focus on providing and promoting a holistic approach to health and well-being, albeit more virtual than in-person during 2020. The design and development of a model that identifies six integral pillars of well-being continues to address many initiatives. Charleston County conducted educational seminars, workshops, and webinars on the six pillars, which were available to all employees, either at their on-site workstations or remote desktops. Charleston County also continued to promote PEBA Perks through emails to all staff and in the monthly electronic newsletters.

Public school district winner | York County School District 3

Being that an employee’s well-being and retaining valued employees are vital to any workplace, Rock Hill Schools worked strategically to align initiatives with an emphasis on wellness and health. Rock Hill Schools continually offer PEBA programs, including worksite screenings, flu shot clinics and mobile breast screenings. The district also sends monthly newsletters to employees with valuable information from PEBA Health Hub, PEBA Perks and information that is shared with employers.

State agency winner | S.C. Department of Education

Dealing with the pandemic introduced the Department of Education to a new way of living life. Keeping its employees well informed about their benefits and what PEBA offers is the department’s number one goal. The department understands the importance of having productive, healthy employees and a safe work environment.
