PEBA Partners is an award program that honors employers that demonstrate a dedication to promoting a physically, emotionally and financially healthier workplace. PEBA strives to recognize employers who are setting the bar for workplace well-being programs across the state. Each year, the application is sent to participating employer groups in May.

Overall winner | Aiken Technical College

Aiken Technical College recognizes that our employees are the college’s greatest asset. The college’s Employee Wellness Program is committed to providing comprehensive and innovative tools and resources that incorporate the various aspects of wellness. We strive to motivate and inspire faculty and staff to lead healthy and fulfilling lives at work and home.

Higher education winner | University of South Carolina

The University of South Carolina strives to create a healthy campus environment in which to live, learn, work and play. During the pandemic, it continued to promote health and wellness by implementing new programs, hosting virtual events, offering flex work schedules and deploying complimentary testing and vaccination clinics. The university offered several voluntary benefits to supplement the core benefits administered by SC PEBA. UofSC maintained and expanded its focus on the mental health of its campus community by offering additional program opportunities, including a Faculty/Staff wellness-specific table at the weekly Healthy Carolina Farmers Market.

Optional employer winner | Renewable Water Resources

Renewable Water Resources (ReWa) provides a comprehensive wellness program that supports its growing and diverse workforce. Through the recent addition of an onsite nurse, ReWa has provided its team members the opportunity to receive immediate care that is applauded by all levels of the organization for its convenient and responsive approach to health and wellness, from health coaching to frequent offerings that include access to mobile mammography, hearing screenings and even an employee-managed walking club. ReWa continues to promote PEBA Perks through emails to all team members and on electronic boards throughout the organization.

Public school district winner | York County School District 3

Rock Hill Schools has maintained its priorities and focus on providing a healthy and thriving environment for all staff members and students during the COVID pandemic and always adhering to the CDC guidelines. Rock Hill Schools has conducted educational seminars, workshops and webinars on mental and physical health, which are available to all employees. Rock Hill Schools continues to promote PEBA Perks through emails to all staff and in the monthly electronic newsletters. In addition, several yoga sessions are provided on “Wellness Wednesdays,” promoting techniques to feel calm and focus, stress relief exercises and jazzercise fitness classes. They provide safe interactions with proper social distancing protocols while incorporating valuable communication and fun opportunities.

State agency winner | S.C. Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation

The South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation’s (LLR) mission is to make South Carolina a safe place to work and live.  In striving to fulfill this mission, LLR seeks to provide its employees with a healthy and safe work environment with a focus on wellness.  While continuing to offer on-site screenings, vaccination clinics and mobile mammography, LLR added new walking and weight loss challenges.  LLR has also utilized virtual platforms and other means of communication to regularly provide wellness tools and information and to provide employees with a way to share important life events, which promotes overall positive mental health.
